Lucknow: Raising questions over the freedom of expression, the Uttar Pradesh Police has detained a Class 11 student for allegedly putting up a Facebook post against UP minister Azam Khan.
An FIR had been lodged by Azam Khan's media in-charge Fasahat Ali claiming that the post is objectionable. A court has sent the boy to 14 days of judicial remand.
The boy's age has not been determined yet. His family members claim that the student merely shared the post.
This is not the first time in Uttar Pradesh that there has been a crack-down on critics on social media. In 2013, well know Dalit scholar Kanwal Bharti was also arrested for his Facebook post on IAS officer Durga Nagpal's suspension.
