2 dead, 8 injured in Khammam road mishap

A middle aged woman and a baby boy were killed and eight others injured when the Tata Ace vehicle in which they were travelling rammed into a tree at Chinna Nalaballi in Dummugudem mandal of Khammam District in the small hours of Monday.

They were part of a group of pilgrims returning home after visiting the famous Kanaka Durga temple in Vijayawada when they met with the accident, sources said.

The vehicle was proceeding to Tegada in Charla Mandal when the incident occurred. The vehicle overturned after the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a roadside tree on Bhadrachalam-Charla highway.

Nagamani, 49, and Shyam Sundar, a nine-month-old boy, of Tegada died on the spot. Eight others including the driver of the vehicle were injured in the mishap. The injured were admitted to the Government area hospital in Bhadrachalam.
