Over 100 inmates of a residential boys hostel fell ill after consuming food last night in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, health officials said on Thursday.

As many as 114 inmates of the hostel at Mopidevi village complained of nausea and stomach upset this morning after taking dinner last night, District Medical and Health Officer R Nagamalleswari told PTI.

Thirty of them were administrated fluids, while four others were shifted to the Government Hospital in Avanigadda for treatment, she said.

A medical camp has been set up in the hostel to treat the inmates. Ten doctors and 13 para-medical personnel have been put on duty, she added.

All affected inmates are out of danger, Nagamalleswari said, adding water or food contamination may have led to the illness.

Samples from hostel kitchen were sent for laboratory analysis to find the exact reason, she said. Andhra Pradesh Assembly Deputy Speaker M Buddha Prasad and Excise Minister K Ravindra visited the hostel and inquired about the residents' health.
