Anganwadi workers staged dharna and commenced a two-day relay fast agitation near Indira park as part of the State-wide agitation on Tuesday demanding implementation of a minimum wage of Rs. 10,000 and other demands.
The Anganwadi workers had gone on a strike last year and secured an assurance on wage increase but the Government failed to keep its promise. Their leaders criticised the government for increasing working hours without adequate pay and threatening to remove aged persons. The police arrested the workers when they tried to gherao the Assembly.
