Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday said that the government has set a target of 18.2 per cent growth rate from agriculture and its allied fields and is keen to contribute Rs 1.69 lakh crore as AP’s share of the GS-DP (Gross State Domestic Product) under the primary sector mission.    
 
Addressing a primary sector mission meet here, Mr Naidu said that all administrative functionaries should utilise the best procedures being practised within and outside the country to meet the target.
 
He said that the farming community was also ready to implement the best practises and already farmers from AP were involved in agriculture in South Africa too.  The CM asked officials to evolve new schemes that give better results at lower cost. He said that the officials should concentrate on reducing the production costs.
 
Pointing out that after the state bifurcation, power shortage in AP touched 22 million units, he said that the government will overcame this shortage by adopting the best practises.
 
The government has taken to agriculture and allied sectors like animal husbandry, fisheries, poultry and horticulture under primary sector mission, Mr Naidu said. He said that over 60 per cent of the people are dependent on primary mission related fields. The government would take help from ICRISAT and NABARD for better results, the Chief Minister said, adding that the mechanisation process would be expedited with the help of Dwacra groups.
