The world famous Mirchi Yard in Guntur would be spruced up to accommodate the offices of the Andhra Pradesh government after they would be soon shifted out of Hyderabad. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reportedly informed his MLAs about this.

He has stated that the government administration would start functioning from the proposed capital area from June 2015, while Hyderabad would still remain as the political capital. So, how did Guntur Mirchi yard come into the picture?

Sources say that a high level committee of engineers has reportedly recommended that there is 2 lakh square feet of space which is available in the chilli yard and this could be utilised to set up government offices till new capital is built.

Hence, from mid 2015 AP government may be all set to function from Guntur and it may be curtains down on Hyderabad, after six decades! Before that, it has to be seen how the occupants of the yard are going to receive this ruling from the government.
