In view of Supreme Court's order, AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to remove all the unauthorised statues that were leading to traffic woes and road mishaps in the state.
Supreme Court issued orders to ensure no statues should be present on either side of roads and footpaths. In a review meeting with officials on Friday, Naidu ordered them to removal the statues erected without Government's permission at the earliest. He asked Roads & Buildings, Municipal, Panchayat Raj and Police to maintain good coordination to speed up the work.
AP Government has decided to give 15-days time to Political Parties to remove the statues, flexis and banners set up by them. Thereafter, Government will take action on those structures which weren't moved to private places.
Most unauthorised statues in AP are that of late YS Rajasekhar Reddy as Jagan was on a statue launching spree across the state during his Odarpu Yatra.
