The case, for sedition, conspiracy and other offences under the IPC, was registered by LB Nagar police station following a court order, said inspector E Srinivas Reddy.

M Phanindra Bhargav, a lawyer, had approached the magistrate's court, seeking probe of Mr Naidu's reported statement that it would be the end of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's regime if he tried to arrest Mr Naidu in cash-for-vote case.

Besides, other TDP leaders insulted the Telangana Governor, Chief Minister as well as the people and provoked the people of Andhra Pradesh, he said.

The court directed the police to investigate.

Following the court directive, a case was registered. "We will submit a report once the investigation is over," said DCP Tafseer Iqubal.

On May 31, Anti-Corruption Bureau of Telangana had arrested TDP's Telangana MLA A Revanth Reddy and two others while offering Rs. 50 lakh bribe to nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson to vote for the TDP-BJP candidate in Telangana legislative council election of June 1.

TRS Ministers and leaders have accused Mr Naidu of involvement in the bribery attempt.
