Hyderabad: After failed attempts by state ministers to procure funds from the Centre, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has decided to intervene.
 
The CM is going to Delhi on January 15 to exert pressure on the Centre to release funds assured in the AP Reorganisation Act. He will meet Union ministers including finance minister Arun Jaitley. TD ministers said that the CM was upset with the Centre’s attitude.
 
The AP government wants to exert pressure on the Centre to make provisions even in the next Budget. Meanwhile, Union minister Y.S. Chowdary held a meeting with AP finance officials at Lake View guest house on Friday.
 
Finance department officials have handed over a bunch of letters to Mr Chowdary written by the state government on various occasions to the Centre requesting release of funds.
 
State finance officials said that the Centre is releasing only Budgetary funds and not even a single rupee was released by the Centre as assured in the State Reorganization Act in the last six months.
 
Sources said before the CM meets union ministers and officials Mr Chowdary wants to prepare the ground on what the demands are and the action taken by the Centre so far.
 
TD ministers said that the CM was upset over the Centre’s attitude in releasing funds. He wants to start the work of construction of the capital city at the earliest and the state government cannot start works unless the Centre releases the funds.
 
The state government sent letters to the Centre at the government level and the CM wrote letters to the union ministers asking for funds. The AP government wants to exert pressure on the Centre to make provisions even in the next budget.
 
The Centre has already started its exercise on budget preparation. AP Finance Minister, Yanamala Rama Krishnudu has already sent a letter to the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to this effect.
