Students of GITAM University developed a special mobile application (app) for facilitating the admissions of the university through cellphones. The team of four engineering students developed the app as part of their first assignment. Using the application, candidates seeking admission to the university can obtain all information regarding the university including faculty, facilities, admission procedure, eligibility, contact numbers, application and online submission besides placements.
B Sourabh, P Mohan, and N Anirudh from the computer science engineering department along with M Raghuteja from electronics and communication engineering department, developed the app which can be downloaded from the Google Playstore or from http://goo.gl/pnc84M to the mobiles.
“The mobile app development involves programming and developing software applications for fast operating handheld devices like smart phones and tablets. It is quite similar to web application development but the major difference is that mobile applications are often used to carryout specific tasks/functions for a particular service,” said Sourabh.
