Gannavaram Airport,Visitors Increased Fourfold,air-traffic to Vijayawada
With the state government of Andhra Pradesh swiftly making its moves to shift the base of governance to Amaravati, the new capital for the successor state, and efforts are under way to attract the investments, naturally, this affected on the frequency of visits to Vijayawada and new state. As per the official records, the visitors to Gannavaram Airport have been quadrupled in the last six months. Six months ago, the services were limited to 10 and now with the increase in number of visitors, the services have been increased to 22.
Going by the data, the regular visitors to Gannavaram Airport on an average would be around 350 per day in October. Cut to present. Now on an average the visitors on daily basis would be 1400. This is not all. In October, on an average only 40% of the seating capacity in 10 services were filled. Whereas, now, around 80% seating capacity is recorded for 22 airline services.
The airline services from Vijayawada are directly available for Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai. However, only exclusion is Mumbai. Except Mumbai, all other cities have direct services to Vijayawada and the services are available from 6.30 AM in the morning to 9.30 PM in the night. Considering the increase in air-traffic to Vijayawada, the airport authorities are contemplating to increase the services and also going to start a direct service to Mumbai very soon.
