Nizamabad: Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy promised that the state government would upgrade the Kamareddy Dairy college to PG level and raise the seats from 20 to 40. The Minister, on Thursday inaugurated the newly constructed dairy college building, examination centre and student hostels at Kamareddy.
Kamareddy MLA Gampa Goverdhan, leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, DCMS Chairman Muzibuddin, Kamareddy Municipal Chairperson P Sushma, Dairy Development Principal Secretary SP Singh and others present in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister said that the state government is planning to increase the seats in Kamareddy Dairy College and upgrade it to post-graduation level. He said the dairy sector has enormous scope to develop in the state. Earlier, the state government’s subsidiary Vijaya Dairy used to procure only 80,000 litres per day. But now it is procuring 3.5 lakh litres per day after giving Rs four more to farmers, the Minister added.
He said the government decided to provide one lakh buffaloes to DWACRA Groups and Women’s Associations in the State, to provide livelihood to them and encourage the dairy sector in the state. The Minister said, during Kharif season State government will be providing crops loans to the tune of Rs 23,000 crore to the farmers and instructed the bankers to issue the loans. Earlier, Minister inaugurated the farmers’ training centre building at Patha Rajampet Dairy.
