Home Minister China Rajappa on Saturday announced an ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh for the families of those who were killed in the accident at Dowleswaram in East Godavari district on Saturday while Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao ordered a comprehensive probe into the incident.

The Minister added that if the driver had taken rest, the mishap would not take place and has directed the East Godavari District Transport Officer (DTO), Kakinada to suggest measures to prevent recurrence of such mishaps.

Only E. Sai Kiran managed to survive in the accident which led to the death of 22 people and is recuperating at the Government General Hospital in Rajahmundry.
