Telengana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is heading to Delhi on a five day visit with a long wish list-to make a case among other things special status for Telangana as well. He will also explore prospects of TRS joining the Modi cabinet.
His tour has gained significance in political circles amidst reports of a possible political tie up between TRS and the BJP and prospects of TRS joining the NDA and bag a berth in the Modi cabinet for his daughter K Kavitha, the Nizamabad MP.
KCR move is seen as a game plan to balance the BJP influence and contain its lenience towards TDP with BJP strong man in AP Venkaiah Naidu playing a pivotal role in favor of Chandrababu Naidu.
KCR's wish list includes a steel factory to utilize the rich iron ore resources in Bayyaram belt of Khammam district and a 1500 power plant at Nalgonda district. He will meet Arun Jaitely to stake demand for special status for Telangana and funds on par with that of AP for development of backward regions of the new state. He will also participate in the first meeting of the Niti Aayog, the now Planning commission.
KCR is also expected to visit Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishty Dargah of Sufi saint at Ajmer in Rajasthan to redeem the vows he had made for achieving Telangana state and offer a Chadar on behalf of the state government. If he cannot make it, his deputy CM Mohammed Ali will present the government offer of chadar to the Ajmer Dargah, it is learnt.
