KCR Reprimands Jagadish,Telangana Slang

Hyderabad: A widely used slang in Telangana that slipped out of his tongue put Minister for Power and Energy G Jagadish Reddy in trouble as it did not go well with the Chief Minister who, ironically, is notorious for his demeaning lingo during public speeches.

For Jagadish Reddy, it did not seem to occur that he was in the august House, when he remarked, “Neeyavva!” during a heated exchange between TRS and Congress members. He was immediately reprimanded by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for his slang remark in the Assembly.

When the House reassembled after a brief adjournment following heated exchanges between the TRS and Congress members, the Minister said the Chief Minister had advised him to be restraint and remain cool and calm to the provocations from the Opposition members. “I did not intend to hurt the feelings of any member or use any language not befitting to the dignity and decorum of the House,” he explained. The Minister regretted the remark he had made earlier in the House and assured that such unwitting comments, even under provocation would not be made.

Earlier, when the House was thrown into turmoil during question hour, Jagadish Reddy who got irritated over the interruptions of the Congress members while he was speaking made the snide remark. This triggered off a strong protest from the Congress. After the House reassembled and the Congress members continued their protest near the podium, the Chief Minister intervened and said he had also heard the comment of the Minister on television and was taken aback.

He said the TRS members, especially the Ministers, should observe restraint and remain cool despite provocations from the Opposition benches. “It is the bounden duty of everyone to maintain decency, dignity and decorum in the august House and to uphold this I had even asked my Cabinet colleague to withdraw his remarks and express regrets,” he said.
