HYDERABAD: The man who has been in political oblivion since the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh is trying to hog the limelight now with what he claims is a tell-all book on Telangana. Former chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy is finishing a 400-page book that he says will reveal the untold story of the division of Andhra Pradesh and expose the double-talk of Congress, its president Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi, TDP president Chandrababu Naidu and a few AP Congress leaders.
"I am recording all those details of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. It will have full information about what happened in the corridors of power and which leader played what role. All the information in the book is backed by documentary evidence," Kiran Kumar Reddy told TOI.
Having completed the major portion of the book during a short stay in the US, Kiran says the manuscript, yet untitled, will be ready in a month. The ex-CM, who quit the Congress over bifurcation of AP, floated his own party Jai Samaikyanahdra which was a non-starter. Since then, Kiran has been spending time playing golf and catching up with the family.
"Ever since the bifurcation, Kiran has been in political wilderness. Though there was talk of him joining the BJP, nothing has happened so far. The book on Telangana will have enough fodder to bring him back to the limelight," claimed a source close to him.
Kiran refused to share details of the book but sources said it records in detail the backdoor activity within the Congress which paved the way for the creation of Telangana. The book has many details of Kiran's meetings with Sonia Gandhi, then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and senior ministers in the UPA. To buttress his case, Kiran will reproduce minutes of the meetings of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) in which the decision to divide the state was finalized.
"Several reports were sought by the Congress high command on Telangana from senior leaders of the party. Such reports were submitted by party leaders AK Antony, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Veerappa Moily. The content of these reports will get a mention in Kiran's book," said the source.
"Kiran had several meetings with the Congress chief on Telangana. Only 25 percent of this got reported in the media. The book will reveal details," said a sources privy to the contents of the book. Apart from Sonia, the book is likely to contain revelations about Rahul Gandhi. "The book will narrate the substance of the reports submitted by party leaders Azad, Moily and Digvijay Singh to the Congress vice president and the latter's response to them," the source said.
Apart from Sonia and Rahul, the book threatens to lay bare the stance of then TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu as well as a few Congress leaders from the Seemandhra region on the Telangana demand.
