On Wednesday, the family members of the departed mountaineer, Malli Masthan Babu, were informed by the Chile Embassy authorities that the retrieval of his body would take time due to the adverse weather conditions continuing in the Andes mountain ranges on the Chile-Argentina border.

Dr. Malli Dorasanamma, Masthan Babu’s sister was informed by the embassy that the weather had not cleared in the past three to four days, making the retrieval of the body difficult. The mountain which is capped with snow is not allowing the Argentine authorities to let army choppers to shift the body from the mountain.

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu promised all the help from the Centre to bring the body of Masthan Babu to his native place at Gandhi Jana Sangham, 40 km west of Nellore.
