Machilipatnam: Aquaculture farmers are in jitters as the second most vicious fish on the earth have now entered their aqua farms in Krishna district.
Green Spotted Puffer, the most poisonous after the Gold Poison Frog, was spotted in several fish-ponds across the district, an aqua farmer has revealed.
Aqua agriculturist Raghu Sekhar told journalists that the Green Spotted Puffer drifted into fish ponds during the shifting of the shrimps and other seeds from backwater channels and mangroves.
He said the fish contains poisonous material such as Tetrodotoxin and expands its body when it finds itself in danger. "Its emissions pollute the ponds with poisonous content killing the fish," he said, adding they are perplexed on how to save their fish ponds now.
If the fish is not removed immediately from the ponds, the farmers have to lose all their aqua cultural wealth soon, he said in anxiety.
