The Delhi police have registered two separate cases on complaints by Delhi Commission for Women Chief Barkha Singh over alleged inappropriate tweets on her by AAP leader Kumar Vishwas and in connection with the purported misbehaviour by his supporters at a DCW press conference.

The first FIR was filed at the Safdarjung police Station in south Delhi, while the second one was registered at the IP Estate Police Station in central Delhi. Both the FIRs have been filed against unknown persons, although Mr. Vishwas will be made a witness in the first case, the police said on Saturday.

Ms. Barkha Singh on May 14 approached the Lieutenant-Governor and the Delhi Police seeking “stringent” action against Mr. Vishwas, alleging that he was behind the posting of a series of “inappropriate” and “objectionable” tweets on her.

“We had registered an FIR in this connection under Section 66(A) of the IT Act at Safdarjung Police Station. Mr. Vishwas will be a witness in this case as he had retweeted some tweets,” said Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat.

Another FIR has been registered under Sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of teh IPC at the IP Estate Police Station in connection of the alleged misbehaviour by AAP workers at the press conference. Earlier this month, the DCW chief had issued summons to Mr. Vishwas after an AAP volunteer accused him of not rebutting “rumours” about an illicit liaison with her.
