Despite going through a financial crunch, Andhra Pradesh government headed by CM Chandrababu Naidu not leaving an opportunity to spend lavishly. And the fresh instance is that Naidu has allocated a whopping Rs 570 Crore for Godavari Pushkaram, which comes once in 12 years. It has already sanctioned the said amount and the officials are likely to begin its work shortly.
Expected to witness a congregation of over a crore devotees during the 12-day event, the grand event is slated to commence on July 14, 2015. The irrigation department will construct the ghats while the endowment department will take up repairs and reconstruction of temples.
A high-power committee will oversee the preparations. The works for the festival are likely to be completed by May. At least 2 crore people are expected to participate in the Pushkaram and take a holy dip in river Godavari.
