Rajya Sabha on Tuesday witnessed heated exchanges taking place between TRS and Congress members over the demand for a separate High Court in Telangana.
Signifying the gap in the district courts and the number of judges from Andhra and Telangana region in the Andhra Pradesh High Court in Telangana state, TRS Leader K Keshav Rao raised the issue during Zero Hour.
As of now, the jurisdiction of Telangana state is covered by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Rao stated that 19 judges in the High Court were from Andhra Pradesh while only six belonged to Telangana and in district courts, the number was 426 versus 50.tt
Strongly opposing the TRS member, Congress members J D Seelam and V Hanumantha Rao, took part in the heated exchange that broke out stirring up angry reaction from Deputy Chairman P J Kurien and warned Seelam of the unbecoming behavior; also that action would be taken him.
