Soil Health Cards to farmers in Telangana

The state government would take up soil testing in the agricultural lands of all farmers in Telangana and issue soil health cards to the farmers.

Agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy informed the Assembly that the project will be taken up initially in one-third villages in each district during  the first year. The rest of the villages will be covered during the subsequent two years.

National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning (NBSS&LUP), Nagpur, is conducting a soil profile study as a pilot project in selected three mandals that include Gajwel (Medak), Thimmajipeta (Mahbubnagar) and Indravelli (Adilabad) and it is proposed to cover the entire state in four years, he added.

Soil testing will be done during March/April and the collected samples will be analysed and soil health cards will be issued to farmers before kharif season.
