Hyderabad: TDP has enrolled 50 lakh new members into the party including both states within a period of 49 days. So, it grandly celebrates the occasion at its headquarters NTR Trust Bhavan yesterday.

But, is it really needs to celebrate for the sudden bulge in the membership? It should think how many of the new members are actually comes to take part in the party programs? Majority of them are from middle and lower class sections, who are lured with the Rs.2.5 lakh insurance coverage and Rs.50, 000 accident coverage offered by the party. So, they all help the party just to bulge its membership number and are no way helpful to party.

There is no assurance that they all will definitely vote for the TDP only in any upcoming elections. So, they are useful for the record sake and are no way helpful to party. Nara Lokesh speaking on the occasions has revealed that actually the figure was just 9.5 lakhs only two years back. So, how can he expect it to multiply 3.5 times within a short span of 49 days?

So, if TDP keep bluffing itself about this sudden bulging in the party membership, ultimately it will suffer for it and not the others. It should also realize that it can’t keep offering incentives every time to ensure all its new members take part in the party activities. Instead, they all expect the party to come to their support whenever they need.

So, if TDP really plans to strengthen the party from grass root levels, then it should identify the real workers who like to dedicate their full time to the party and can serve the party. It is wise to conduct some party programs occasionally to recharge these grass root level party workers, instead of trying ideas like this. However, Nara Lokesh’s idea of setting-up a welfare fund for the party workers is a very good idea. No party in the country ever thinks to help its party workers who carry the party flags and turn stepping stones to their leaders.
