Hyderabad: Claiming that Telangana is a rich state and will be power surplus by 2018, Chief Minister K Chnadrasekhar Rao today stated that efforts are being made to provide adequate power to agriculture, industries and domestic needs without any cuts.
Addressing a media conference here he said that the state will get 2000 MW power from Chattisgarh soon and received a letter for supply of 500 mw from Kayankulam project of Kerala on Thursday. With existing 4300 mw power, the state will get 2300 mw hydro power and by end of 2015 Telangana will get 2000 mw and will give 12 hour supply to agriculture in 2017. By 2018, Telangana will be power surplus state with 2000 mw to 3000 mw and will be ready sell to other states. Referring to 14thFinance Commission citing Telangana and Gujarat as rich states, he claimed that Telangana is a rich state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured of steps to mitigate the problem through relaxation of FRBM norms which help us to get an additional Rs 10,000 crore funds in addition to the existing allocation of Rs 14,000 crore, he said.
The Centre through NITI Ayog has halved schemes to 66 from 122 and the states sought to reduce them further to implement own schemes, he said. KCR said that Telangana State is supplying power to seven mandals taken away by the AP Government post bifurcation. He reprimanded his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu for denying power to TS from Krishnapatnam, Seeleru and Hinduja projects. This is a violation of AP Bifurcation Act and the Centre will help us get our share of investments if Naidu continued to deny power share, he said. KCR also took serious exception to Chandrababu defying advice from Modi, Governor ESL Narasimhan and a committee’s recommendation in favor of TS on power share.
Judges appointment at districts will be done as per apex court direction he said. Stressing the need for design change in Pranahitha Chevella he said that there is a possibility to get 1000 tmc from Almatti and Narayanpur via Mahabubnaagar as Karnataka government is ready to offer water. I will make it to Karnataka for talks soon he said. KCR also found fault with opposition for trying to oppose every idea of the government including cleansing Hussain Sagar, shifting secretariat and taking up new schemes. He sought to know whether any previous government had any plan to cleanse Sagar. Referring to Yadagirigutta development he said that 800 acres were given to urban development authority.
