HYDERABAD: The twin states could be gearing up for separate Eamcets if respective governments do not come to a consensus by January 16. The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) is expected to come up with Eamcet dates in the coming week, if it does not get a favourable response from AP.

Though TSCHE had sent a letter to their AP counterparts, the correspondence has not yet elicited any response. "We will wait for a response for only one day after Sankranti. After that we will announce the dates for Eamcet," said a Telangana official.

"If a consensus is not reached Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Kakinada or Anantapur could conduct Eamcet for AP," an official said. However, some officials stated that Andhra University could conduct the examination as L Venugopal Reddy, chairman of the state council, was earlier the vice-chancellor of this varsity. Meanwhile, Telangana has clarified that JNTU-Hyderabad will conduct Eamcet in the state.
