Traffic Police serve legal notices to recover pending challans
Hyderabad: Having introduced the cashless enforcement, the Hyderabad Traffic Police have decided to send legal notices for several challans which are pending against the violators.
The legal notices would be sent through speed post with acknowledgement due. If the respondents do not turn up then charges will be framed against such in the court of law for taking necessary action as per law, the Traffic Police said. On Tuesday, some notices have been being issued to violators and further notices would be issued in a phased manner.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police has created several payments gateways for payment of challans. All challans issued to the commuters can be paid through E-seva /Mee-Seva /Net Banking / Post Office / SBH / Andhra Bank branches. Information of payments for paid challans are updated immediately in the data base, maintained by traffic police. For any queries the commuters can contact Help line 9010203626.
Instead of collecting challan in cash, the Traffic policemen will issued e-Ticket to the violators and they will be given a time up to a period of seven days for payment of challan. If such booked cases cumulatively exceed three, then police will detain RC/DL/Vehicle and will ask the violators to pay at his convenience for the release of such.
Further, the traffic police have introduced cameras to the towing cranes to bring transparency in functioning as the live streaming at Traffic Command Centre and preservation of data to introduce accountability. This has been done in view of complaints over handling and accountability.
To improve the functioning and bring more safety on streets of Hyderabad, traffic police is ready to equip the enforcement officers with Tabs to furnish online data to traffic command and control room with complete data for violations and violators. This will further help in being strict for repeat offenders. It will also bring transparency and accountability in enforcement of Drunken Driving.
