Venkaiah Naidu,API manufacturing plant,Visakhapatnam
M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs, inaugurated new manufacturing facility for high-value active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates established by Granules - OmniChem Private Ltd near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
The company is a joint venture between the city-based Granules India Ltd, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing company and Ajinomoto OmniChem, a subsidiary of Belgium-based Ajinomoto Co Inc, which produces fine chemicals for the pharmaceutical industry.
“The new facility is designed and built to the highest standards of the global API manufacturing sector and positions itself uniquely to address the needs in the pharmaceutical market,” said Krishna Prasad Chigurupati, Chairman & Managing Director, Granules India, in a statement.
We are happy to successfully cross the first milestone of our joint venture with Ajinomoto Omnichem.
Our partnership has a distinct advantage as it combines two companies that are known for their high quality products, extensive technological expertise and operational efficiency, he added.
Gwinnett Bompas, Corporate Executive Officer & General Manager (Pharmaceutical Custom Manufacturing), Ajinomoto Co Inc, said the new joint venture facility would help it expand the customer base. “We have a strong partnership with Granules and we are happy to see this world-class manufacturing facility. On the strength of our long-standing customer relationships and Granules’ expertise in high quality manufacturing and formulation, we expect to see significant growth in our customer base,” he explained.
Our aim has always been to supply the highest quality products and services based on reliable and flexible production, innovative research and responsiveness of the organization to the market needs and this joint venture is a great example of that, he added.
Granules is known for producing finished dosages (FDs), pharmaceutical formulation intermediates (PFIs) and active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for quality conscious customers in the regulated and semi-regulated markets. The city-based company has a customer base of over 300 customers spread across in 60 countries. It has offices in the US, UK, China and Columbia, in addition to India.
