Farmers from Undavalli, Penumaka, Nidamarru and other viallages located within the limits of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), who are opposing the forceful acquition of farmlands, have began their 48 hour protest at Penumaka.
The protesting farmers have asked the ministers and government officials as to why they were threatening them to choose either the land pooling scheme or the Land Acquisition Act.
The farmers, under the leadership of G Naresh Reddy, said they are determined to continue their protest till Wednesday and then take a call on the next step.
The farmers said the state government is claiming that it has already pooled 33,000 acres of land. If that is the case, the government can go ahead and construct the capital city on that land itself instead of trying to forcefully grab their farmlands.
