TIRUPATI: An RTC bus got severely damaged after the driver of the bus lost its controls and the vehicle veered off the road near Alipiri toll gate, in the temple city on Monday.
According to Alipiri depot officials, the driver, B Ramesh, who was working in the morning shift, which begins from 4.30 am, on the day was deployed to run the RTC bus (AP 03 Z 6132) to the temple hill shrine. The public transport vehicle was scheduled to leave from Alipiri depot to Tirumala at around 5.10 am.
After the completion of security check at Alipiri toll gate, exactly a 500 meters away after that, the vehicle veered off from the road and hit the boulder, causing a severe damage to the front portion of the bus. No injuries were reported to the pilgrims onboard.
A special RTC traffic inspection team rushed to the spot and conducted enquiry about the incident. The estimated amount for the damage caused would be around Rs 5,000.
