Audio functions in Tollywood industry are becoming increasingly offensive with celebrities making sexist, vulgar comments and resorting to shameful gestures.
Recently the audio function of upcoming movie, ‘Edo Rakam Ado Rakam’ was organized in a star hotel. The movie directed by G. Nageswara Reddy features Manchu Vishnu, Raj Tharun, Sonarika and Hebah Patel.
During the event, when Sonarika asked the movie’s dialogue writer why he was named as Diamond Ratnam, he said, “I will tell you if you give me a hug.” Though shocked, the heroine obliged.
Later, it was the directors turn to repeat the same. He asked the heroine for a hug and even said, “Writer Diamond Ratnam is very quick to write dialogues when I explain the scenes, and the only problem is he needs two pegs of mandu (alcohol).”
Finally, it was Raj Tharun who also asked for a hug and when he got what he wanted, he said, “This hug is not for me, it’s for Ravi Babu (who was not present).”
Watching all this happen on the stage, actor Mohan Babu lost his cool and decided to give the team a piece of his mind. He went on to the stage and said, “I have acted in more than 650 films and I have never spoken like this at any function. This is very cheap. How can a director ask an actress for a hug in a public gathering, and also when the event is shown live (on TV)?”
Speaking about the director’s comments on writer’s love for drinking, he said, “I know about you and your love for drinks. I have told you many times that you exceed your limit while drinking. And you are now talking very cheaply about the writer in public.”
Mohan Babu lashed out on the writer as well. He said, “When you are speaking, use your common sense. If the actress was from our times, the reaction would have been different and she would have even slapped.”
Mohan Babu also cautioned senior actor Rajendra Prasad for his comments. “How can you say that the girl looks like your wife? This is not a comment one expects from you, even my wife Nirmala felt bad about it. Please be in control,” he said.
