Dangal First Day Collections: Aamir Khan fails to beat Salman Khan

Christmas is the most luckiest festival for Aamir Khan. Most of his blockbusters since 'Ghajini' were released during this season itself. Once again, Mr.Perfectionist shows his Box Office power with 'Dangal'.

In the domestic circuit, 'Dangal' collected Rs 29.78 crore on Friday. This include Rs 59 lakhs from Telugu and Tamil dubbed versions. Trade circles expect the film to join Rs 100 crore club by Sunday as the word-of-mouth is terrific.

'Dangal' is making moolah at the Overseas Box Office. This Wrestling-based Flick collected approximately Rs 5.49 crore ($809,107) by Thursday in USA and Canada. While $282,281 was generated on Wednesday, A revenue of $424,902 has been collected on Thursday in US alone. Whereas in Canada, The revenue stood at $43,102 on Wednesday and $58,822 on Thursday.

In New Zealand, 'Dangal' debuts at No.4 with a revenue of $92,839 (Rs 43.31 lakh) till Friday.

In Australia, 'Dangal' debuts at No.5 with a revenue of $250,879 (Rs 1.22 crore) by Friday.

However it failed to beat Salman Khan’s Sultan’s day one box office collections which amounts to Rs. 36.54 crores, the highest of this year. So when it comes to opening day figures in the domestic circuit, Salman Khan beats Aamir Khan on Day 1. However, Salman Khan did have an advantage as the movie was released on a public holiday, i.e. Eid. Both the movies fall under the same genre of wrestling dramas, and both Aamir Khan and Salman Khan were in the top of their game when it comes to box office so this contest was keenly watched. Dangal however, stand in the second position of the highest day 1 box office figures, beating Sushant Singh Rajput’s MS Dhoni: The Untold Story (Rs 21.30 crores) and Shah Rukh Khan’s FAN (Rs 19.80 crores).
