And in Telugu in particular, the craze for film stars and some of their hit films is humongous. Hardcore fans of top stars celebrate anniversaries of hit films every year by tending hashtags on social networking platforms.
Yesterday, fans of Powerstar Pawan Kalyan trended #14YearsForKushi and showered their admiration for the film which transformed Pawan from a successful hero to a blockbuster star. Some crazy fans even mentioned the collections and the number of theaters Kushi ran in 2001.
Today, it's the turn of Superstar Mahesh Babu's fans, who have been frantically tending the hashtag #9YearsForPokiri. Pokiri was an industry hit when it was released and Mahesh's fans have a special affinity towards the film. Yet again, the record breaking collections, number of centres the film ran for 100 days were mentioned with pride.
This phenomenon is not limited to fans of Mahesh or Pawan alone but even NTR, Prabhas and several other top stars' fans celebrate their favorite films' anniversaries each year. The growing reach of social media is the prime reason behind this craze and this doesn't look to stop any sooner. Well, it is definitely heartening to see fans' craze undying even after decades.
