This Is Bigger Threat Than Media And Reviews

26th April, 2015 10:19pm     Tollywood      Comments
Quality content is doing great business. There is no way however we could deliver a 300 crore worth content all the time and make it work. That's why few producers are buying dubbing rights of such giant flicks and making money here. Is that not a threat? Few film producers feel that these dubbed movies are breaking their spine.

120 crores gross collection and running, Fast And Furious 7 is the pick of many youngsters this summer, while Avengers: Age Of Ultron joined their bucket list now. Local distributors might have acquired the flick for a couple of crores, but the movie's budget is nearly 1100+ crore indian rupees. Such an entertainment is surely not possible to produce pan India too provided with the limited appeal our content has. If Hollywood flicks are threat to whole of Indian box offices, Tamil and Hindi films are posing a new threat to Tollywood.

In every season, if we have movies of star tamil heroes getting dubbed into Telugu and released in huge number of theatres. Treading in the same path, Hindi biggies are also making way to Tollywood with dubbed versions on same day. After Hollywood films eating away some revenues in prime seasons, now these movies from neighbourhood tinsel towns will eat the balance.

"Rather blaming our own media for reviews and cracking whip on TV channels in the name of escalating promotional costs, it's better we control these dubbed movies", a producer says. In Kannada film industry, Sandalwood, all dubbing flicks are banned.
