Eid has come and so has Bollywood’s favorite Salman Khan’s Bajarangi Bhaijaan. Directed by Kabir Khan, the film stars Salman, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Nawazuddin and little Harshaali Malhotra. This movie is releasing tomorrow but we have watched the exclusive premier and bringing our review. Let’s see how it is.
Story :
Pawan Kumar Chaturvedi (Salman Khan) is an honest and kind-hearted man, who is also a great devotee of Bajrang Bali. This is the reason why he is known as Bajrangi. With no success at making a career, Bajrangi’s father sends him to Delhi to earn his living. This is where he meets Rasika (Kareena Kapoor Khan), who falls in love with him.The story takes a turn when the very helpful Bajrangi decides to help Munni (Harshaali Malhotra), a little Pakistani girl and reunites her with her parents across the border.
Now, how will Bajrangi survive in foreign land and will he be able to help Munni meet her parents. This forms the rest of the story…
Positive Points :
We have said it before and we say it again. It is enough for newcomers to have The Salman Khan’s cameo in their films just to make it a hit and when a movie is all about The Bhai, all you can expect is entertainment in full swing. Salman plays his character with sheer honesty and he makes you fall in love with him all over again with this one too. The movie deals with the issue of cross border tension and message of humanity and loving each other with excellence.
Kareena Kapoor Khan is beautiful. Her beauty adds to every scene that she is in. Talking about Nawazuddin. Well, the man is a true artist. He manages to overshadow Salman in every sequence he is in. However, it is Harshaali Malhotra who steals the show. Playing a mute girl, the little wonder speaks through her eyes and her innocence is heart-warming. And to everyone’s surprise, even though this is a Bhai movie, it has only has a few action sequences, which are not at all over-the-top. This is a welcoming change.
Negative Points :
The movie has its share of clichs. Despite making Bajrangi’s character endearing, Kabir also made him boring at times. Bajrangi’s honesty is too much to handle. After a while, just like all of Salman’s films, the movie only talks about Salman and how amazing he is after all. Kareena does not have much screen space and is only there to add the desired glam quotient.
Performances:
Salman Khan really outdoes himself with this role of an innocent and simple man. Kareena Kapoor manages to make her presence felt with a small but pivotal role. Nawazuddin Siddiqui as usual ends up doing a fab job but the true star performer of this movie is Harshaali who makes you laugh, cry and go through a range of emotions without a single dialogue and only expressions. The chemistry Harshaali and Salman share is truly heart touching and something that can tear you up as well. But the humorous and enjoyable scenes between Nawaz and Salman are not to be missed as well.
Technical Aspects :
Director Kabir Khan knows his work very well. The filmmaker selects the best of actors, the best of locations and the best of humour to make this film worth a watch. While the first half has some interesting and engaging sequences with the introduction of characters, the second half has some sequences that are too dramatic to be true.
Like Bajrangi’s entry in Pakistani without a passport or a visa. The movie has some extremely scenic locations which are a treat to the eyes. Also, the music given by Pritam fits correctly in the plot. The best part about the film is that it has no item number, which may act as a hindrance in the story-line. The run-time is just fine. The cinematography is amazing and so is the editing of the film.
Verdict:
On the whole, just like the past few years, this Eid too, Bhai brings a treat for all his fans with Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Do not miss on this ride of love and laughter across the border.
