The hit director actor jodi of Prabhu Deva and Akshay Kumar have reunited for yet another action comedy Sling is Bling. The big budget entertainer has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story :

Raftaar Singh (Akshay Kumar) resides with his family in Punjab. Tired of Raftaar’s habit of leaving things in between and not shaping up his career, his father (Yograj Singh) gives him two options to either marry an overweight Sweetie or shift to Goa to do a job.

Left with no choice, Raftaar leaves for Goa. On the other hand in Romania, a don named Mark (Kay Kay Menon) falls for Sara (Amy Jackson), who happens to be Raftaar’s love interest. Rest of the story is as to how Raftaara manages to handle Mark and win his love over Sara.

plus points :

Just like many of Prabhu Deva’s films, the first half of the film is filled with enough action and humor to keep the audience entertained. The parts with Akshay and Amy conversing in spite of not knowing each others language are hilarious.

Akshay gets into the skin of his role as the quirky Sardar. Lara Dutta as Imli makes up for an awesome comeback. It is also surprising to see her do the comic scenes so well. Amy adds glamour quotient and also pulls off the action sequences quite nicely.

minus points :

Well, one cannot just search for any logic here, as there is none. The movie travels from Punjab to Goa to South Africa to Romania in no sense of the world. The action is sloppy and being an Akshay film, many of us may have guessed it already.

Also, the main negative here is Kay Kay Menon’s character. He is extremely unconvincing as a baddie. His character is also very badly designed and is the weakest link in the film.

Analysis:

The songs of the movie are choreographed keeping in mind the genre of the film. Also the music is fine and fits well with the plot. While there is enough humour in the first half, the second half is too stretched and tedious.

It is high time that the director Prabhu Deva now tries his hands on something different and logical. This one too is just as any of his other movies. The cinematography is fine, however the editing is extremely bad. The writing is good only in parts. The action sequences are ok.

Verdict :

On the whole, if one likes films which has slapstick and over the top comedy, then Sling is Bling will be a good choice for them. But for all those who are into logics and expect something simple and clean, this film is not their cup of tea and can ignore it this weekend.
