Recently, Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas' Speedunnodu released amidst high hopes after it was sold at astonishing prices. The film failed to collect at least half the investments to its buyers.
Incidentally, even Sai Sreenivas' debut film, Alludu Seenu, ended up as a colossal disaster and sent his father and once a top producer Bellamkonda Suresh packing. Suresh is still reeling under the huge losses incurred with Alludu Seenu's failure.
However, there are many more such producers who failed to sustain their sons' careers but instead went into hibernation after the films tanked heavily. Veteran giant Dasari failed in launching his son Arun Kumar with Greeku Veerudu. The list goes on with the likes of MS Narayana's son Vikram, Brahmanandam's son Gautham, EVV Satyanarayana's elder son Aryan Rajesh to name a few.
AM Ratnam, once a top producer down south, too had to undergo the dark phase when both his sons, Ravi Krishna and Jyothi Krishna, gave him a series of shocks when all their films tumbled at the box-office. Also, MS Raju, who made matinee idols out of Mahesh Babu and Prabhas, tasted a huge disaster when he launched his son Sumanth Ashwin with Thuneega Thuneega and it kept him out of limelight till now.
Even Mohan Babu took a break from production after most if his films featuring his sons failed to click at the box-office. And this Friday, Dialogue King Sai Kumar will test his luck as he produced his son's Garam, hoping that this film will pull him out of his flop streak.
