Oopiri is being praised as path breaking hit in Telugu and the movie garnered most decent reviews from all corners. Nagarjuna and Karthi's emotional quotient connected to all the audience and leaving them excited even when they came out of theatres. This movie is giving the breath to out of the box movies in Telugu, but the same movie is suffocating in Tamil.
Unlike the best ratings it got in Telugu, Thozha was declared as an average movie in Tamil. While the common audience were just okay with this movie, some critics did not even rate it as an average one. They say that a 20 minutes extra run time in Tamil might be the culprit, which were deleted in Telugu for obvious reasons. That extra run time must be dragging the story with unwanted scenes and it has affected the overall result badly. If it is the only reason for bad reviews, then that 20 mins is killing the movie.
Other than that, there are few other factors for Oopiri's bad review in Tamil. Nagarjuna is one of the most popular heroes in Telugu and we know him from decades. But Tamil audience have not watched his movies from years and they might not have got connected to his role as much as we do, whereas we treat Karthi as one of our own actors, thanks to his dubbed hit movies.
