The Forum for Good Governance has released a list of 72 candidates who are tainted in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation polls. Thirteen of them belong to the Congress, 13 to the TDP, 14 of the TRS, AIMIM 11, BJP 4, MBT 2, CPI and CPM 1 each and 11 independents. Eight of them are women candidates.
TRS candidate M. Narasimha Rao contesting from B.N. Reddy Nagar has five criminal cases against him, while BJP candidate P. Venkata Ramana contesting from Shalibanda has six cases.
Congress mayoral candidate Vikram Goud, son of former minister Mukesh Goud, contesting from Jambagh, is accused in kidnapping and extortion case.
Former Mayor Mohamed Majid Hussain contesting from Mehdipatnam has two cases registered against him.
P. Venkata Ramana and MIM candidate Md Mustafa Ali, contesting from Shalibanda, have six cases registered against each of them, mostly for communal rioting, and all the cases are currently being probed by the SIT.
