In what could be a major blow to YS Jaganmohan Reddy, as many as eight MLAs of his YSR Congress party are likely to jump into TDP. Two MLAs each from Kadapa, Prakasam and Krishna districts are among the front-runners in joining TDP. In connection with this development, YSRCP MLA representing Vijayawada West Assembly constituency Jaleel Khan has met CM Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday.
Although several other MLAs from YSRCP are showing keen interest, it's learnt that TDP has become choosy. The party is of the opinion that it'd give consent to MLAs who're really willing to serve party, people and would be benefit to the party.
TDP decided to take Adi Narayana Reddy from Jammalamadugu constituency. However, there's a stiff opposition within the party as Rama Subba Reddy who's his rival and lost elections twice in the same constituency is not in favour of his joining into the party. The party has now decided to convince Rama Subba Reddy on the same. Rama Subba Reddy met Mr Naidu on Thursday on the same issue.
At the same time, two MLAs from Prakasam and one more MLA from Krishna district (besides Jaleel Khan) have sent signals to TDP expressing their willingness to join. TDP has left the decision to district party president and committees and sought their opinion on the MLAs. Besides these 6 MLAs, two more MLAs from Godavari districts and North Coastal Andhra are keen to switch their loyalties from YSRCP to TDP. This is also under scrutiny.
On whole, looks like, YSRCP is going to get a big setback. While TDP MLAs in Telangana are joining incumbent TRS, YSRCP MLAs in Andhra Pradesh are showing interest to join TDP predicting future for the yellow party in the truncated state. At the moment, political equations are changing at fast pace.
