Union Minister of Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Parliamentary Affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu dismissed allegations about BJP’s ideology being enforced through imposition of ban on sale of beef or meat in various BJP-ruled states and said food habits are purely individual choice.
Party has not announced any policy against beef and hence cannot be blamed for that, Mr. Naidu said. Wherever the ban was being implemented, it was the decision of the respective state governments and there was no ideology behind it.
On the other hand, it was the Congress Government which initially brought the legislation against sale of beef.
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh does not impose vegetarianism either, he said and shared an anecdote from his initial days as a member of the RSS, when he was told by a senior Pracharak he could eat what he wanted.
Speaking at the birth anniversary celebrations of Bharatiya Jansangh leader Deendayal Upadhyaya here on Friday he lambasted the Opposition, communists and the media for the negative publicity against NDA Government. Any small fault by Modi Government is being magnified by the media which condoned major scandals during the Congress regime, he alleged.
“Modi’s government is being blamed for everything others say or do not say. Sanatan Sanstha was recommended for a ban during Congress regime, but the Home Ministry struck it down. Why didn’t they ban it then? Whatever Sriram Sene does is attributed to the BJP. Disinformation is being spread in the name of information,” he fumed.
Severely berating the communists, he said they filled all universities, research institutions, and the media, which is why Left parties are getting publicity despite having been decimated everywhere in the country. Their ideology has failed as shown by the election results. Mr. Upadhyaya’s Integral Humanism is the only answer to Communism and Capitalism, he opined.
Divisions created in the name of caste have helped the likes of Mayawati, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav for some time, but they will not last long, he sought to say, while charging that all “communalists and casteists” have come together to contest the BJP in Bihar. Yet, the BJP will win with a thumping majority, he predicted.
