Kirumi, a suspense thriller, directed by Anucharan has been released today. Co-written by Manikandan of Kaaka Muttai fame, Kirumi was expected to be an engaging flick. Has it lived up to its pre-release buzz? Check out our movie review to know.

Story:

Kathir plays an unemployed youth and is married to his sister's daughter, played by Reshmi Menon. During a casual conversation with his neighbour, played by Charle, he discovers that Charle is a secret police informer. He then convinces Charle and manages to get himself the job of an informant. He takes his job seriously and in the process lets the cops know about an illegal business hosted by a local bar.

As soon as he informs the police department about the bar, many wheels are set in motion and even before he realizes the seriousness of the issue, he gets himself in an ugly tangle.

What does he do to untangle himself forms the rest of the story which has been narrated in a unique and interesting way intertwined with a simple yet powerful message.

Performances:

It is quite evident that the team of Kirumi wanted a realistic output and that's what you pretty much get when it comes to the performances. Lead performers; Kathir, Reshmi Menon and Charle have kept it simple and realistic.

Their performance is as natural as it can get. Sowandarapandian's performance as a cop deserves a mention as well.

Technicalities:

While the first half is brilliantly written and manages to keep its audience engrossed throughout, the movie falters in its latter half as it loses pace abruptly. However, an interesting climax saves the day and turns this one into a watchable flick.

Some of the highlights in the technical department comes in the form of cinematography and editing. While cameraman Arul Vincent has managed to capture the entire film in the most realistic way possible, Anucharan comes up with some interesting cuts.

verdict:

Kirumi is an interesting thriller that largely gets a simple yet unique treatment. It is definitely an honest attempt by its director Anucharan.
