Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday alleged that the Centre was showing a stepmotherly attitude towards this State. A case in point was none of the cities in Telangana figured among the 20 smartcities that the Centre announced today.
Even so, the Telangana government was allocating a massive Rs.30,000 crore for the development of Hyderabad. This would include housing for the poor.
Whatever the promises by the various parties, the TRS would have its candidate as the Mayor. This would be enabled by the TRS and AIMIM fighting the poll as friendly parties.
He said in this regard that beef politics was unfortunate. It was natural habit to eat beef, or snakes or frogs by different peoples. Those parties indulging in it were talking about without head or tail. The sort of question should not have been raised at all.
At the same time, the Chief Minister denied that either his son, KTR, or daughter, Kavita, TRS MP, had made any comments against the MIM.
In a wide-ranging address and question and answer session spread over 2 hours at Telangana Bhavan, KCR said the suicide by HCU research scholar, Rohith Vemula, should not have occurred in the first place. He was alluding to all-round criticism that as Chief Minister he should have visited HCU which was in turmoil.
The Chief Minister urged the people of Hyderabad to vote in the GHMC poll for good candidates lest they faced the charge that they cared less for voting in elections.
At the same time, he expressed the confidence that continuous power supply without cuts was enough to put the TRS in a winning position in the GHMC poll.
Disregarding the recent bonhomie between him and his AP counterpart, Chandrababu Naidu, KCR wondered what was the necessity for Babu to forget his work in Andhra and to come here and campaign for the TDP in the Hyderabad poll. "If he so wanted, Chandrababu could sweep the 13 districts in AP," he added wryly.
As Chief Minister of the combined State, Chandrababu could not solve the problems of Hyderabad in his 9-year rule. But for the sake of votes, the TDP should not disturb the peace in Hyderabad.
He also said his government vowed to take up housing for the poor, shifting of the Sachivalaya and building two towers in the Osmania Hospital.
