AP legislative assembly on Wednesday witnessed repeated disruptions of Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's speech on the Capital Amaravati issue.
The ruling party MLAs, led by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, interrupted his speech at regular intervals.
YS Jagan raised the issue of Amaravati land scam in the house and said that TDP leaders, ministers and MLAs have purchased huge chunks of land in the AP capital area on the basis of insider information.
He said this was a breach of the oath of secrecy sworn by the chief minister and the ministers and strongly demanded a probe by the CBI.
However, the ruling benches tried to sidestep the issue by demanding that YS Jagan prove the allegations he made against the TDP ministers and MLA. Chandrababu even said that he would dismiss the ministers if found guilty. But, he flatly rejected the proposal for a CBI inquiry.
Significantly, none of the ministers denied the allegations. Minister P Pulla Rao has even countered as to what was wrong if they bought lands in the capital area.
But, he faced a piquant position when ally BJP's MLAs also said that there were some irregularities in the land deals. A stung Chandrababu asked BJP not to criticise the ruling party and told them not to behave like an opposition.
Earlier, in a stinging attack on the ruling party, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said the land deals in the capital region of Amaravati were worse than insider trading. He also dared Chandrababu Naidu to seek a CBI probe into how he became an owner of several lakhs of crores.
