Ex-Google Employee Wins GHMC Polls

Out of all the winning contestants in the GHMC elections, the youngest contestant from the TRS party Samala Hema surprised everyone by winning the Seethaphalmandi division with a  majority of 15,344 votes, highest among all the winners. Hema got 19,279 votes, winning over the TDP candidate Mekala Keerthi who got 4,280 votes.

Samala Hema completed her MBA and like every other youngster, she too dreamt of flying abroad for higher education. The young corporator also worked for IT giants like Genpact and Google for a couple of years, before joining active politics with her father's support.

In another similar feat, 21-year-old Fahad Bin Samad Abdad, a final year civil engineering student at Deccan Engineering College, contested from MIM ticket and won the contest at the Uppuguda division with a majority of 7,800 votes. Fahad is the son of former Uppuguda corporator Samad Bin Abdad.

On the other hand, the candidate who won the GHMC contest with a lowest majority is MIM's D Mohan, who clinched the Jambagh division with a majority of just 5 votes in a nailbiting finish over his TRS opponent Anand Goud.
