Hyderabad: Anti human trafficking police have busted locations in Rayalaseema, a 'sin triangle' from where girls are being thrown into flesh trade.
AP Inspector General of Police S. Umapati said that Anantapur, Kadapa and Chitoor constitute this triangle and there are 25 mandals in this ‘sin triangle’ which are prime areas for sourcing girls to Delhi. He also said that girls from Visakhapatnam, Krishna and Godavari are trafficked to Goa.
Dr Sunita Krishnan, founder of Prajwala, an organization joined hands with the police in the operation, said that in Hyderabad there were 20 sorted out traffickers who are traficking individuals from the earstwhile Soviet nations and Africa into the city.
Cases of kidnapping of girls for trafficking have come down and now they are enticed on the pretext of job, love, marriage or some other thing for which they fall prey. The victims age has also come down. Porn videos which are uploaded on net are filmed under coercion, she said.
To curb this menace, three states, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Odisha alongside with US consulate in Hyderabad and NGO Prajwala will be undertaking a programme called 'Swaraksha Caravan' in which film stars like Sunil and TV anchors Suma and Rashmi would take part.
A bus with the survivors would travel to the effected areas to create awareness and they would also set up vigilant groups to prevent trafficking. 'Swaraksha Caravan' programme will start from February 8 and will continue till May 2016.
US consulate general Michael Mullins said they will be supporting this campaign and the specific agenda of the campaign is to reach the targeted people as part of preventive step.
