The Andhra Pradesh State Handlooms Weavers Cooperative Society, APCO, in association with Flipkart, will market handloom textiles. The government will tie up with Flipkart after bifurcation of APCO between the two Telugu states.
The major reason for the government taking this step to join hands with Flipkart in marketing handlooms is to sell the products all over the world and to overcome the tough competition in the local markets.
The government is planning to set up stalls across the major cities in the country, and handloom varieties such as Venkatagiri, Dharmavaram, Mangalagiri, and Uppada will be promoted by the Andhra Pradesh government.
Elucidating on the move, AP handlooms and excise minister Kollu Ravindra said that online marketing would give a boost to the handloom textile business.
