Loan Waiver in 2nd Phase

Assembly speaker and Sattenapalli MLA Kodela Sivaprasad Rao has assured farmers that the second instalment of loan waiver will be implemented without a hitch in his Assembly constituency.

Interacting with farmers, bankers and officials at a programme organised in Sattenapalle Wednesday, Sivaprasad Rao said that the government had spent Rs 2,125 crore in the first phase of loan waiver in the constituency and it will need Rs 799 crore in the second leg. “Only with the cooperation and coordination of officials, the first phase of loan waiver could be completed successfully. We expect the same cooperation from them for the second instalment of loan waiver also.”

Appreciating the officials and beneficiaries for their efforts in completing the construction of 20,000 toilets, as part of ‘Swachh Sattenapalle’, he said that it was now time for ‘Swachh Schools’ under which separate toilets have to be constructed for boys and girls in all schools, which were bereft of them. “It is found that there are instances where girl students pursuing classes IX and X have dropped out of schools for lack of toilets,” he said.

When farmers sought to know if the loan waiver will be implemented for families who lost its bread earner, the bank officials clarified that in case of the farmer’s death, his family will be the beneficiary. On being pointed out by the farmers that lack of ration card was posing a problem since both ration and Aadhaar cards were being sought, the Speaker said that ration card can be substituted with voter identity cards.
