APSRTC Staff Demand Pay Hike

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Employees’ Union and the Telangana Mazdoor Union have jointly issued a notice to vice-chairman and managing director of APSRTC N Sambasiva Rao on Monday, demanding review of pay scales as promised on April 1, 2013.

In a press conference held at Bus Bhavan on Monday, general secretary of APSRTC Employees’ Union K Padmakar said that as many as 20 lakh employees were working in the APSRTC today.

“We wish our salaries to be on par with that of the government employees.We manged to get the interim relief of 27 pc last year that was promised by the then transport minister Botcha Satyanarayana,” Padmakar said. The members demanded the management to immediately meet the pay committee, that was set up to discuss pay, allowances, service conditions and the fringe benefits and settle the pay scale issue.
