Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government launched its flagship programme “Neeru Chettu” at Thamballapalle of Chittoor district. Chief Minister Sri N. Chandrababu Naidu said that this needs to be taken up as a bigger campaign and eventually made as a people’s movement.
Ministers, districts collectors and nodal officers launched the program at the district and mandal level.
It is with Neeru-Chettu, the state government is aiming to make AP a drought-free state by encouraging forestry plantations and 100% drip and sprinkler irrigation in the drought-hit areas.
Under this programme, the government to focus on planting saplings, improving ground-water table and utilize available resources through environmental protection. During its previous tenure TDP launched Janma Bhoomi and it was a huge success. Similarly Naidu aims at making Neeru-Chettu bigger success.
