Hyderabad: The Centre on Friday warned the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments to resolve the bifurcation-related issues amicably through dialogue, or it would be forced to “intervene” to set things right.
The warning assumes significance in the backdrop of disputes between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh with regard to sharing of power, water, common institutions, examinations, admissions etc.
A war of words has erupted between the ruling TRS and the Opposition as MLC polls draw near.
The TRS which is going all out to ensure a win in the polls cautioned voters against casting their vote in favour of the BJP nominees backed by the Telugu Desam. “A vote for the BJP is a vote for Chandrababu Naidu,” it warned.
The Telugu Desam which is backing the BJP nominees, descri-bed the MLC elections as a referendum on government and asked voters to teach a lesson to the TRS for cheating youth with promises of employment.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao who is taking these elections rather seriously roped in ministers, legislators and other senior party leaders, while the BJP leadership backed by TD roped in Union ministers along with state president G. Kishan Reddy, BJP floor leader Dr K. Laxman to ensure a win for BJP candidates.
Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao who campaigned in Khammam for TRS candidate Palla Rajeswar Reddy said, “If you vote for BJP, it’s a vote for Chandrababu Naidu. The people have rejected the TD and BJP.”
